Breakfast @ Daruma Tavern. 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️. Cycled from Sengkang To Punggol, near the iconic Red Bridge leading to Lor Halus & Pasir Ris.

Had a short conversation with the friendly staff. Customers with pets 🐶🐶🐶 can sit at the sheltered outdoor (non-aircon) seating area !

Weekends best to make reservations!

Today, we were lucky 🍀 🍀 🍀 to get a seat in the aircon area as the brunch crowd was not here yet. At first , we were directed to a table with high chair seats, but later to a more comfortable table as someone cancelled their reservation 😊.

Lots of Instagrammable spots to take pictures in this shop! 🥳. My wife likes the Lego Daruma framed Portrait!!! A nice cool place to chill.

They are open earlier this year, I passed by this shop many times, 1️⃣ today is my first time eating at this place. Ordered their breakfast platter set 🥗 & egg 🥐croissant & 2 lattes ☕️ .

They offer western and asian fusion food too. Take a look at their menu! Heard their popular item on their menu is the Hokkein Noodle!! (Arh, upon checking there are Hougang Six Mile Stone Fried Hokkein Noodles & KL Dai Lok Mee on their menu , so I am not sure which Hokkein Mee 🤣 is the more popular one). Anyone tried, pls share.

Mama Tom Yum seafood hotpot looks nice too !

Crafted beers 🍻 stout and hard liquor are available too!

Their JaJang Myeon 炸酱面 is really good 😊.  Sometimes, the queue wait is about 30-45mins ! Luckily no need to stand in a queue, they have the electronic buzzer which will sound when your food is ready.

Ordered Teishoku Chicken Katsu Set & Tonkotsu Ramen. 🌟🌟

You can read their Concept Kodawari : they use Higher Quality Meats, Japanese Rice, Fresh Breadcrumbs, 100% Cottonseed Oil, Original Donburi Sauce from Japan.。
The staff at the counter was a Japanese Lady too. When our orders arrived, we were pleasantly impressed by the food presentation, which was much better than those pictures in the menu. Taste-wise very nice too 🌟🌟, very fresh & flavourful.

Sengkang Steak

🌟 Ribeye Steak & a super nice place to chill ! River facing outdoor alfresco seating area. You can watch really beautiful sunset 🌅 when weather is good!

Went there last Saturday evening after work! On that evening, no sunsets for us as it was going to rain 🌧.

No sunsets, no problem. The 🌟🌟 yummy char-grilled Ribeye steak 🥩 captured our hearts 🥰 with just salt & pepper.

A little bit dry, but the charred outer crust was really 👍👍👍. We ate it plain, almost without the sauce. I only dipped the meat once into my red wine sauce.
They serve different kinds of craft beers, fruit beer & ciders. We are happy with 1664 Kronenbourg at happy hour & a mixed bucket of six later. Nice accompanying Buffalo Wings.
It rained later, and we shifted into the aircon section. Very cosy too. If you want nice comfy seats, go for those sofa seats at the extreme sides and corner.

Pop by for a quick lunch after viewing. This Korean eatery just opened recently in April 2022. So got this chance to try their food.
Ordered their Volcano 🌋 Fried Rice with Cheese 🧀 , Jap Chae and Korean Corn 🌽 Tea. Nice 👍.

They say there is always Room for Dessert.   It is really true!  After a sumptuous dinner at a family gathering, the ladies and the kids suggested we go this place.  It is really Sugar Rush !!!  The ladies and kids are so happy !  They are happy, we are happy 😉

1) Karubi 100g set.
2) Prime Karubi 100g (Ala Carte)
3) Harami 50g (Ala Carte)

I placed order, and they served me within a minute (within their 3-minute guidelines). Friendly & helpful staff.

Prime Karubi is more beefy 🤣. Harami is thicker. 🌟. I asked for extra Sea Salt Sauce & Garlic Soy Sauce. Later Rock Salt & Black Pepper. Haha, to my surprise, I was given 2 tiny packet of salt 🧂 and pepper 🤣. I sprinkled some on my beef and they tasted really good , without sauce, just salt & pepper. More 原汁原味。

Er Bo Mu二伯母@ 322 Sumang Walk. They just open their Punggol outlet in Feb 2022. They have 2 other outlets at NUS Flavours @University Town (Dover) & 106 Bidadari Park Drive.

Popped by their Sumang punggol outlet for a quick lunch after meeting Parc Centros condo sellers.
I ordered their 🍄 Braised Mushroom Noodles with Tobiko , add an extra “onsen” egg. 飞鱼卵焖菇面 加蛋🥚。🌟
They are well known for their Fragrant Dry Chilli Banmian. 干捞辣椒板面. Also Handmade Prawn Surimi Noodle. 手工虾滑面粉粿汤。
If you like something healthier, you can try their Tomato Egg Ramen 😋. 👍

琉璃鲸🐳Whale Tea at Rivervale Mall Level 1. They are open 24hours daily!!!!
Today, I finally answered to Sengkang Branch Whale 🐳‘s call, although I try to limit my sugar intake these days.
The little store has a few cosy seating area, where you can spend some romantic moments 😘 (even by yourself) and sip the Whale Tea with the small lovely cookie 🍪.
Ordered the beautiful Volcanic Sapphire Whale 蔚下的鲸。🥰 Immerse myself at the quiet corner seat for a short while.
Heard from the staff that the best sellers are the Flaming Brown Sugar & Brown Sugar Avocado.

[NEW][PUNGGOL] Sushiro, 🇯🇵 Japan’s Most Popular Sushi Chain is in Punggol now. Just opened a few days ago. This is their fifth outlet in Singapore. Their other branches are at Tiong Bahru Plaza, Isetan Scotts, Causeway Point and Bedok Mall.

Just popped by Waterway Point to try some of their sushi & dessert.

1) Cold Chawamushi ( 🥶, my first try on the cold version, usually I like hot ones! Anyone tried? )
2) Whole Spear Squid Sushi 🦑
3) Salmon Belly Sushi 🍣
4) Premium Eel Sushi 🍣
5) Tuna Sushi 🍣

FYI: You are allocated 60minutes to finish your meal.

And when I pay, I was given a yellow card 🟨. Haha, it is not the kind of foul card you receive in a soccer ⚽️game 🥳, it is a “good-ness” card !! Novia : cream crab croquette and salmon with onions~ very nice 👍 .
Esther : Avocado shrimp, ebi 3 platter. Pudding is a must try, Warabi mochi.

Btw, my way of eating sushi (dipping the rice into soya sauce) is incorrect. 😅.

The traditional sushi etiquette according to chef Nobu Matsuhisa:

1) Don’t put wasabi into soya sauce. Put sashimi fish into soya sauce, then take a little wasabi and eat with sashimi.

2) Make half turn (of nigiri sushi), take the sushi 🍣 with the chopsticks and dip the fish side of the sushi into the soya sauce, without the rice touching the soya sauce.

3) Eat everything in one bite, not two bites. Sashimi, nigiri sushi, sushi roll … in one go (mouthful).

4) Eating ginger slices in between sushi for better tasting. Cleanse & refresh your palate.

5) Eat from Light to Heavy (fatty fish).

6) And Final Sushi should be Sushi roll.

I shall try to do all these for my next Sushi meal

KECha is a new concept beverage kiosk originated from Taiwan, founded in 2017.  They offer a range of healthy drinks from fruity teas to milk series in stunning colours served with beautiful and reusable bottle。Signature is definitely their Brown Sugar Boba Milk, made with the highest quality brown sugar from Taiwan.

You can also get iconic 台湾小吃：XXL Chicken, Popcorn Chicken, Oyster Mushroom, Tofu fries, Enaki Mushroom at this stall.

It is obvious that the signature dish of CocoICHIBANYA at Compass One is the Pork Cutlet Omelet Curry as it has got the largest image on their wall Signage 😄.
So I ordered Pork Cutlet Omelet Curry 🤣. (Standard 🌶 Spiciness). The curry was 🌟, but I don’t find it spicy at all. For Spicy Foodies, order the Spicer version.
Something new for you to explore if you are sick of eating the same thing over and over again. Today, originally I wanted to order something healthy at the corner Vegan stall. In the end, curiosity got hold of me !
I find myself ordering from this new stall.

Btw, their slogan is “Good smell. Good Curry”. It certainly smell good and yummy too. 👍👍

Salted Egg Pasta with Fried Butter Chicken.

I was marketing a unit at Blk 273C Compassvale Link. I arrived early, parked at their basement carpark, then I took a short walk to this Kopitiam foodcourt (located just outside Buangkok MRT station) for a quick lunch.
As I was browsing their Menu, this “salted egg pasta with fried butter chicken” jumped out to me.
Nice Salted Egg sauce 👍🌟. Butter Chicken 🌟 too.
If you are near Buangkok MRT, you can explore this savoury western food. Yum yum 😋.

A small group of us cycled 🚲 from Sengkang to this interesting cafe facing the runway for small private jets.

It was a short distance cycle 🚲 from Jalan Kayu. A little getaway from the normal shopping malls. A very good place for cyclists and family with kids.

Have not been here for a long time…Soek Seng 1954 Bicycle Cafe.We reached there before sunset 🌅 and we were just in time to see a small jet 🛫 taking off the runway in close distance. Sound was not very loud like Big Planes ✈️ …

They serve Western Food, some other delights like Katsu don, Unatamadon (Unagi Eel Rice), Pasta, Panggang Chicken, Beef Rendang.They have Erdinger, Guinness, Kilkenny, Strongbow, Rokerderlig Ciders and other 🍻…cheers. Ice Lattes, Cappuccino, Mocha, Camomile tea, Fresh coconut 🌴 , etc and small eats like Chicken wings, Cheese fries, Yakitori & Seafood Rolls. Family-friendly.

Foodwise: the 3 items we ordered (sirloin steak, chicken wings and seafood roll) were quite normal.

Ambience wise 🌟🌟🌟. Can go there for a chill-out 🍺🍻 during weekends

There are limited Carpark lots 🚘 . Cycling 🚴‍♂️ is most recommended. We used PCN (Park Connector Network) and road pavements only, not cycling on road. Quite safe, but some of the road pavements (along Piccadilly road) are quite narrow, so please be careful and ride slowly.(Look at maps and instructions on how to cycle to Seok Seng Cafe from Jalan Kayu, only a short distance away)

If u drive 🚘 , go slightly earlier (before meal times) during weekends.

Note: The first time I went, I followed the GPS on my phone and it led me to the wrong building. So I included the maps in the pictures so that you get it right the first time.

From the maps in my Facebook posts: Old Birdcage Walk seems to be shorter, but we usually take the “safer” outer route via Seletar Aerospace View (as indicated by the purple dotted line in the picture). There is a Soek Seng signage near the entrance to the carpark。Once u see it, you are on the right track! Enjoy 🥳

If you look at their cute company logo, you know that Zoey’s Diner specialises in Buns (Burgers).

Their menu is quite cute 🥰 too. Baobaes(宝贝) treasures in their menu is a pun with bun ( 包贝）。I remembered a song包(宝)贝对不起，我要吃了你，你不要伤心⋯ 🤣

They served brioche buns & steamed buns. For first-timer, just try their brioche bun first.

Zoey’s Chicken at Zoey’s Diner should be their signature! So, I ordered:

Zoey’s Chicken : Marinated Chicken Thigh, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Homemade Garlic Aioli, Brioche Bun.

A Brioche Bun is a ‘richer’ bun.
Rich as in it will contain additional ingredients like eggs, milk and butter which makes the brioche bun different from ordinary bun. It is soft and tastes nice. special.

I saw their Buttermilk Fried Chicken (with steamed bun) on their Facebook. Looks good.

Fish Roe Egg Fried Rice + Pork Chop. 鱼籽蛋炒饭＋猪排。(Number 7 + Number 12 on their menu)

This stall (Tai Feng Wei), serving Taiwan Delicacies, was recommended by one of our members of Sengkang To Punggol Facebook group, Mr Toh.  Wow! The Fish Roe Egg Fried Rice was really good. Look at the amount of fish roe on top of the Pork chop! A wonderful meal despite having to wait about 20mins.

Thanks to Mr Toh! And now, we have a Taiwanese food options now 台湾小吃 👍👍👍.

Take a look at the above menu. Their braised pork rice 卤肉饭& noodle looks good too. Sesame Oil noodle dry 干拌香油面& Taiwanese popcorn chicken 盐酥鸡.  A few in the Facebook group tried the sambal fried rice before, and they highly recommend it.  This sambal fried rice (Number 8) is on my radar now 😉

Wanted to order the Asari Miso Soup in the appetitizer section, but out of stock, so we opted for Tamago Trio. 👍
Went for late dinner with my wife, reached Gaku around 8pm. Served by a very friendly lady staff. Wanted to order the 2 chawamushi , unfortunately there is only one left in the kitchen. So I ordered one for us to share. Later we were informed that the couple behind me had taken the last one. Aiya. 🤣. No chawamushi for us! 😆.
After a short while, this lady staff came back to let us know their kitchen can do 2 new fresh chawamushi specially for us 😃🦾🦾.

Well, this 2 chawamushi really brighten our little night-out on Valentines Day 🥰 at Northshore Plaza 2. Heard they just open their doors (soft launch) on 初三 3rd Feb.

My stomach was growling and I needed to eat fast, so I ordered their signature number 1: Big Brother Yummy Chicken 大师兄台湾大鸡排!

It was big and when it arrived, it was already cut into smaller rectangular one-mouthful slices. The Yummy Chicken was covered with their 招牌pepper & chilli 🌶 powder!

🚨🚨🚨This type of fried chicken, it is BEST when you eat it lips-burning 🔥 hot.

Once they cool down it won’t be so nice, so forget about tabao-ing (takeaways). If you tabao, don’t complain about the 🥶cold chicken being soggy & oily.

I have not ate such a big piece of fried chicken for a long long time. It was few years back when we traveled from Taipei (North) 台北 to Taichung台中 to Kao Hsiung 高雄 (South), hopping from 🌜夜市night market to the next one, eating numerous kinds of XXL炸鸡排 。

One of the best we found was a 👹魔鬼炸鸡排！比面大！There was even one stall in Taichung Feng Chia Night that claimed that they massaged the chicken meat for 8 hours before frying & bbq, making the meat more tender! [台中逢甲夜市必吃］馬莎雞 炭烤按摩雞排！每塊都按摩8小時。不裹粉吃起來更嫩口！ And i remembered its queue was super long, and we joined in the the wait to try the famous massaged chicken. Had lots of fun then.

We went up 阿里山⛰and I asked the native ladies, 阿里山的姑娘真的美如水💧？And they said they are not pretty as described in the song 美如水💧。I said have! I saw! Then they said they were mostly from Taipei 🤣and other places.

This 大师兄 鸡排 Yummy Chicken certainly brought back some of the wonderful foodie 🍽memories in Taiwan!!!.  Will their 台湾盐水鸡 Salted Chicken with Vegetable next time.

Ordered Ssam (Salad Bowl) with sesame yuzu dressing for Base.
For Protein: I chose Bulgogi Beef.
For 4 toppings: I selected Kimchi Salsa, Guacamole (avocado), Cilantro Lime Rice & Corn.
And I made it a meal with Nachos, Salsa & a small can of green grapes drink.
