If you have not tried Round Island Cycling before or have not cycled for very long distance, you can try the following some shorter routes first.
SHORTER CYCLING ROUTES:
PCN Cycle from Sengkang To Sembawang Hot Spring Park (30km)
PCN Cycle from Sengkang Punggol to East Coast Parkway ECP (36km)
PCN Cycle from Sengkang Punggol to Macritchie to Bukit Timah to Hillview to Mandai loop (50km)
PCN Cycle from Sengkang to Jurassic Mile / Changi Airport (60km). (Video)
PCN Cycle from Sengkang to Rail Corridor / Green Corridor (65km). (Video)
PCN Cycle from Sengkang Punggol to Marina Bay Sands to Gardens By The Bay to East Coast to Changi (67km)
Once you are a more seasoned cyclist, you can attempt the round island route. Personally, I have cycled round the island 5 times (some are smaller rounds).
Feb 2018 : First attempt (alone), 122km.
Feb 2019 : Second Round with jac, 98km.
Dec 2019 : Third Round with jac, karen & aileen 100km.
Dec 2020 : 4th Round with jac, karen, joan 99km.
July 2021 : 5th Round with jac, karen, 165km.
Four times, we didn’t get to Tanah Merah Coastal Road, Changi.
Feb 2018: due to airshow (coastal road was blocked due to airshow)
Feb 2019, Dec 2019: Took a shorter route as it was getting late. Some members of the group was exhausted.
Dec 2020: Went a try bigger route to include Neo Tiew & Lim Chu Kang Road. It was getting late and some members were tired, so cut short the ending part. Note: Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang area: there are no road pavements and we need to cycle on the road for these stretch.
July 2021: on our fifth time, We finally did it !!! : Full 165km Round Island. Karen suggested to include Tuas Lamp Post 1. Three of us ( me & my wife and karen) completed this round island route including
Rainbow Bridge @ Kranji ,
Lighthouse @ Raffles Marina near 2nd Causeway,
Tuas Lamp Post One
.
On the map, the route we took looks like a fat peliken. Time taken 23hours. Total distance about 165km. This time, the entire round island route are mostly PCN and road pavement, except for roads with where there is no road pavement at all, the only viable option is on the road. Note
: Neo Tiew,Lim Chu Kang, Pioneer Road, Jalan Buroh: there are no road pavements and we need to cycle on the road for these stretch. We tried not to go on the road as it is not safe for amateur like us.

I received many enquiries recently from people who wants to try this round island routes that I posted.
For Beginner cyclists, you can try the shorter and safer Round Island route that I took in 2018 & 2019. All on PCN and road pavements only, not on road. Distance about 100km, Approx time 14hours.

Feb 2018: 122km ! First time Round Island Cycling Route . All PCN & road pavements.
For Advanced cyclists, you can go for the longer Round Island route, you can choose to try the last July 2021 cycling route that we took, closer to the edges of Singapore. Although we try to cycle on PCN and Road pavements as much as we can but there are some parts we have no choice because there is no road pavement at all at these industrial area. So, need to cycle on the road at certain stretch of the route. Distance about 165km, Approx time 25hours.

2018 ROUND ISLAND CYCLING ROUTE FROM SENGKANG PUNNGOL
This first round the Singapore Island cycling trip was made in February 2018, it all started with my cycling exploration to cycle via PCN to Woodlands for the first time from Sengkang. After my breakfast at 8+am, i unknowingly began my 122.8km journey round the Singapore Island !
I was an occasional beginner Cyclist who just bought my mountain bike late 2017, but i had completed a 67km half island trip before this Round Island Route. PCN Cycle from Sengkang Punggol to Marina Bay Sands to Gardens By The Bay to East Coast to Changi (67km)

Feb 2018: Started from Sengkang PCN, i rode via Punggol Waterway PCN , passing this majestic Arch Bridge and Waterway Point in Punggol

Overlooking Seletar Airport, on the way to Yishun

Yishun dam facing the sea.

Reached Sembawang . Took Pictures of the Canberra MRT under construction in 2018 (Now already in Operation)

Sembawang God of Fortune Temple ! Claimed to be the largest God of Fortune in the world ! So big that it has to sit on the rood of the temple

My Bike @ Woodlands Waterfront entrance. When I reached here, I already clocked about 30km. And I thought “Since I got so far, I might as well carry on riding”….Hmm I dont like to take the same route back. And this is how I started my Round Island Cycling ! All on PCN and road pavements only (Not on the roads!)

Got lost !!! seems to me like a familiar scene from the TV or Movie where kidnappers usually “hide”.

First time taking my personal “Public Transport” and zipping through the busy Central Business Districts CBD of Singapore !

Marina Bay Sands & Singapore Flyer

Baby Merlion at Fullerton

Esplanade Durian

Garden by The Bay & Super Trees

Flower Domes and MBS

Seafood Centre at East Coast Parkway. By then, the battery of my Phone was low batt. So as to conserve energy, few pictures were taken afterwards

Last water Point at ECP before heading to the Coastal Road

Coastal Road, long straight road heading towards Changi

i was planning to go to Changi via Coastal Road and looping back via Pasir Ris then back to Punggol and Seng Kang. But to my dismay, there was a major road block and no one can pass though as these were security blocks for aircrafts unloading for upcoming Singapore Airshow !!! i had to make a detour U-Turn !!! i literally begged the security officers to let me pass, but there is no way !!! it was already late and i had to give up the distance covered and make a Detour !!!

Taking a detour, i headed for the nearest Underpass. Travelled via PCN to reach Bedok Food Centre for a pit-stop.

Passed by Bedok Reservoir and then Tampines West MRT.

Reaching Pasir Ris New Hawker Centre for a drink. My bike was parked at one of the racks. The one and only at this late hour !

Finally reaching Lorong Halus bridge and crossing it to reach Punggol
Completed my Round Island Route of 122.8km, utilised mainly PCN and road pavements. The whole journey took me about 14hours !!! ( Slow ride as it started drizzling at the second half, Makan & pitstops, also, Stayed in shelter due to Rain ). Pro cyclist with super light road-bike can go round island on roads in about 2-3hours. to me, it was a Personal Achievement with my mountain bike !
TIPS:
Do some warmup 30km or 60km cycling before attempting 100+km route.
Download the Streetdirectory App on your mobile for navigation. It is very useful.
Things to bring along:
a power bank to charge your phone,
a set of dry clothing (& slipper) in case you are caught in the rain,
some money for food and drinks,
a lock in case you are too tired to cycle, just lock the bike and take a cab home,
a torchlight for bicycle for cycling in the night.
If you have not tried Round Island Cycling before or have not cycled for very long distance, you can try the following some shorter routes first.
