Singapore’s first Vending (Machine) Cafe opened in Sengkang in August 2016. Chef-in-Box VendCafe is located at the void deck of Blk 320C Anchorvale Drive next to Nan Chiau Primary School (About 5 minutes walk from Sengkang MRT)
VendCafe is managed by catering company JR Food Group. The Group’s CEO said “The concept of eating (food) from a vending machine in Japan is common but it’s uncommon here.”
It is a NEW way of eating. VendCafe operates 24-hours a day just like 7-11 convenience stores, you will can always something to eat at any time!!! Even in early hours like 2-3am, no need to cook Maggi Mee already !!!.
VendCafe has 2 main sections with one serving Hot Food / Drinks and the other dispensing Snacks & Cold Drinks.
At Hot Food Section, there are two Big Vending machines “Chef in Box”. The Local Delight “Chef” dispenses local dishes, such as Seafood Hor Fun, Chicken Casserole Claypot Rice, Curry Chicken with Rice, Vegetarian Rice Noodle. The Western Delight “Chef” cook up Western-style food like Chicken Bolognese with Spaghetti, Braised Chicken in Duo Olive Pronto Sause.
It takes ONLY 3minutes for the “Chefs” to cook(heat) up your order with screens of “Wok and Fiery Flames” !!! Or if you prefer, you can choose the option to “freeze up” the food for later consumption by simply warming up in your home microwave oven.
At the Snacks & Cold Drinks Section, there are many grids of boxes that contains delicious mouth-watering yummy snack and titbits, you will be spoilt for choices ! Potato Salad, Tiramisu, mini Orea, Pepero and many many more.
Many residents staying nearby and students from neighbouring schools are delighted with VendCafe offering a new eating option as well as a new eating DIY concept. Staff members of VendCafe are currently stationed there to help new patrons to familiarise with the ordering of food. (Do note that the VendCafe currently accepts $2 and $5 dollar notes ( Not $10 !!!) if you want to pay by Cash).
Alot brought young children to experience VendCafe. Some says Hawker Centre or FoodCourt Food tastes better, but What you are buying from VendCafe is really not so much of the food, it is the Convenience and Fun! However, some snacks like their potato salad tastes really good and fresh.
